- hello! -
I'm Brian Sellars, I would describe myself as patient and friendly (the patience comes with having had teenage children!).
After over 30 years in the Coach & Bus industry, from driving to management, I decided to look for new challenges. Using my experience in driving and people skills I formed Sellars Driving Tuition in 2003.
Since then it has became a local, reputable and fully qualified professional driving school, offering all aspects of driving lessons and tuition at highly affordable prices. We are proud of our high pass rate and the referrals’ we receive from past and current pupils.
Approved driving instructors (ADIs) are regularly assessed on their instructional ability by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency and graded, I obtained the highest grade, Grade A.
We are a member of the Driving Instructors Association.
(DIA). The DIA was founded in 1978 to represent the professional driving instructor. It has since established itself as the largest independent organisation in the world.

The Practical Driving Test
This will include an eyesight test (if you fail this, your test will not continue). You'll also be asked two vehicle safety questions. These are also known as the 'show me, tell me' questions. You’ll be asked the ‘tell me’ question at the start of your test, before you start driving and the ‘show me’ question while you’re driving answer one or both questions answered incorrectly will result in one driving fault being recorded. You’ll drive in various road and traffic conditions, but not on motorways. The examiner will give you directions that you should follow.
You’ll be asked to pull over and pull away during your test, including:
The examiner will ask you to do one of the following exercises:
You’ll have to drive independently for about 20 minutes by following either:
You may also be asked to carry out an emergency stop exercise. A standard driving test takes about 40 minutes.
You can make up to 15 driving faults and still pass the test (16 or more results in failure). However, if you commit one serious or dangerous fault you will fail the test. If at any time your examiner considers you to be a danger to other road users your test will be stopped.
Why Pass Plus?
Once you have passed your driving test we can help you save money on car insurance premiums by offering Pass Plus, a training course specifically aimed at new drivers, designed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) with the help of insurers and the driving instruction industry.
Getting your won car will give you the independence you need. For a new driver, the cost of insurance can be sky high.
Because statistics show that new drivers are more likely to have an accident in the first two years of passing their test than at any other time in their driving career.
Age doesn't matter - it's basically down to a lack of driving experience. That's where Pass Plus comes in.
Pass Plus consists of 6 practical modules which cover:
You can take it any time within the first 12 months of passing your test. There is no test at the end of it - your driving will be continually assessed and you must successfully complete all the modules in the course to an achieved or exceeded standard.
